THE DISCOVERY: OG CALI BLU talks Music, Family & Hustle
Tell us about yourself, who is OG Cali Blu? How did it all start?
OG CALI: It all started from one day I went to my brother house and my nephews was playing around rapping. So i started playing around with them and we started getting serious and here we are.
You're running a big movement in your part of California. Tell us about that?
OG CALI: I wanted to do something big to put the city on, all we ever been known for is Disneyland. So we started the "AnazUpNext" movement basically to let the world know we coming.
You're a family man. Before this interview you had to pick up your son from school right? How do you manage to juggle being a parent, businessman and a musician, must be a lot of work?
OG CALI: Yeah man it's a lot work but my wife do her thing too so it balances out in the end. My oldest son is 22 and he rap with me, so any way it go I'm parenting and handling business at the same time.
AnazUpNext movement? Can you tell us more about it? Who's involved?
OG CALI: My whole squad and pretty much anybody from out section that wanna be apart something major.
What's your thoughts on the current situation of Hip Hop? Do you think it's dying with all these mumble rappers out there?
OG CALI: I don't think it's dying I just think people has gotten confused as to what rap and the art of rap and music was and still is. I think we giving to much credit to the bull and not enough to the real. I feel like the labels are telling people what to listen to or what to like and that's why it feels dead.
So what's your views on Record Labels and Radio?
OG CALI: Too much control. They don't allow the artist to decide for themselves what to release.
You've dropped a lot of music this year what are you currently working on?
OG CALI: Right now I'm doing a lot projects for producers. They want be on they beats and helping both parties at the same time.
"I get lifted" is a dope song, is this off your new project? What can you tell us about it?
OG CALI: Nah that project has been years in the making. I don't wanna release anything unless it's real and its heart felt, they have to relate.
Who else have you been collaborating with lately?
OG CALI: I just released a song called Nobody's fault produced by the homie WICCID BEATZ. I just finished up a track called "Dark Truth" for a project by the same name being produced by Dj Sketch and I got another project I'm about to start on for another cat from BODYBAG so I'm moving.
What can we expect to see from Cali Blu and the Gang?
OG CALI: We got new videos coming soon from Dutch 100, TG31 and King C. We got new collaborations going on too.
